Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a session? Sessions typically run 2 to 2 1/2 hours, depending on travel time between locations.
What if I don’t play a sport or am involved in any activities? Not to worry--everyone has something that makes them unique. That's why I send you a "getting to know you" questionnaire prior to our session; your answers give me ideas of ways to show off your unique best!
Where is the best place to go for photos? If you have a location that has meaning for you, I recommend we start there. Can't think of a place? No worries, I have lived in Wisconsin for 20+ years and have a variety of locations that I can suggest!
Do I get the digital files? I do not offer digital files and here is why: I have found that many times, clients get a flashdrive of digital files and that is where those files end up living forever, never seeing the light of day. I don't want that for your images--they should be seen! I offer a wide variety of archival products produced by a professional lab and I think you'll love the results! I also offer a personalized app that contains up to 20 images from your session--much more fun than a flash drive of files!
Can I bring multiple outfits? Absolutely! Plan on 2-3 outfits. I recommend your uniform if you play a sport or are in an activity that has a uniform, jeans and a nice shirt or top, something dressier (a dress, nice shirt and dress slacks or even a suit if that's you) and something casual that you typically would wear in the months we are doing your session!
What packages do you offer? All of my offerings are a la carte; this way you don't end up with items you don't need. However, I do offer a few incentives like digital files suitable for social media, a personalized app, and a set of graduation announcements at different spending points.
Do you retouch the photos? Yes. All images are color corrected and lightly retouched to eliminate blemishes, under eye circles, etc. However, I do want you to be recognizable by your loved ones so I do use a light hand in retouching!
What if there isn’t anywhere to change outfits? Not a problem--I bring a changing tent with to all sessions!
When is the best time of year to schedule my session? Summer, hands down, because you will have more time available for your session. Once school starts, other activities start up as well, limiting availability. However, I have done sessions into November and December!
Do you offer hair/makeup? I do have a hair/makeup person available. If you are looking for hair/makeup, let me know and I have you contact her directly to schedule and pay.
What if the weather is iffy on the day of my session? If it looks like it will be storming (thundering/lightning) on the day of your session, we can definitely reschedule. If it's cloudy, hot, cold, windy, I am happy to go ahead with the session so long as you are comfortable. I do my best to keep you comfortable (finding shade to shoot in, bringing portable fans, having you throw on a jacket between images if it's cold, etc). We are in Wisconsin after all, and goodness knows, we could have all of those weather factors in one day!
What should I bring? Aside from your clothing/uniforms, bring a hairbrush, hairspray, makeup for touch ups, any props you would like included, and your letter jacket if you have one. It's always good to bring water and a snack too! Forget something? No worries, I bring a kit with some of the essentials as well!
What is the best time of day to schedule my session? To take advantage of the perfect golden light, I recommend mornings before 10:00 and afternoons after 4:00. That said, I shoot all day long and even into the evening if I think it will add a special something to your session!
Will you send my photo to the yearbook? Yes! Once you have chosen the photo you want to appear in the yearbook, I retouch and size the file per the yearbook requirements and submit. You don't have to do anything other than choose the image!
